  • Adaptive Behavior Teacher

    POSITION: Adaptive Behavior Teacher for a student with behavioral needs. Self-contained classroom with aide.
    PRIMARY PURPOSE:The Adaptive Behavior (AB) Teacher is responsible for the behavior and academic instruction of the eligible student with disabilities as assigned by the Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee.

    Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
    Valid Texas teaching certificate
    Acquire and maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification

    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    Knowledge of special needs of students specific to behavior.
    General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.Ability to instruct student and manage their behavior within a self-contained environment Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
    Ability to communicate effectively
    Ability to work with child with disabilities

    Two years experience working with children in a behavioral program preferred.

    Reporting directly to the campus principal, the Adaptive Behavior Teacher performs the following duties:
    1. Implements instructional and behavioral program.
    a. Utilizes knowledge of Adaptive Behavior management system in designing
    individual and classroom programs.
    b. Ensures that accommodations, modifications and behavior intervention plans are
    c. Designs lesson plans appropriate to student.
    d. Requisitions materials, equipment and supplies needed for implementation.
    e. Utilizes campus and district positive behavior supports.
    2. Serves as a member of the Admission, Review and Dismissal/Individual Educational Plan Committee.
    a. Evaluates individual student progress based on academic and behavioral data collection.
    b. Participates in placement decisions based on educational, social and behavioral data presented to the committee.
    3. Serves as a member of the campus Behavior Team.
    a. Establishes frequent communication and cooperation with the student’s family.
    b. Maintains confidential records of assigned student and completes end-of-year
    reports and other evaluations.
    c. Attends scheduled Behavior Team meetings.
    d. Collaborate with campus administrative and district staff regarding student progress
    and discipline.
    4. Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.

    Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting.

  • Elementary Teacher

    Iola ISD is seeking a certified Elementary Teacher for the upcoming school year.

    Primary Purpose:
    Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.  Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

    • Bachelor's degree from accredited university
    • Valid Texas teaching certificate
    • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject areas
    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
    • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
    • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • At least one year student teaching or approved internship.

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:
    Instructional Strategies:
    • Develop and implement lesson plans that facilitate requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
    • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
    • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policy, and administrative regulations.
    • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
    • Must be willing to implement small-group instruction.
    • Work cooperatively with the special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established and individual education plans.
    • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
    • Plan and supervise assignment of teacher aides and volunteers.
    • Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.

    Student Growth and Development:
    • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
    • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal methods.
    • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
    • Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.

    • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
    • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
    • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

    Professional Growth and Development:
    • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
    • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
    • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
    • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • Supervise assigned teacher aide(s) and/or volunteers.

  • Substitute Cafeteria Worker

    The cafeteria worker prepares and serves cafeteria food, and maintains the cafeteria and dining area in sanitary condition.
    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Preparing all menu items using established policies and procedures.
    • Assisting with the training of new employees.
    • Assureing menu items are prepared in sufficient quantities to satisfy volumes.
    • Serveing food in proper pre-determined portion sizes.
    • Cleaning cafeteria including serving area continually.
    • Cleaning cafeteria area before and after school hours.
    • Maintains appearance of all equipment and serving counters.

  • Substitute Custodian

    The custodian will keep the district buildings in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.   • Substitute Bus Driver

    School bus drivers pick up students at stops along established routes and drop them off at school. They may also transport students and faculty to special events, such as field trips or sporting events, often working split shifts of mornings and afternoons. 

    School bus drivers must be attentive to traffic and weather conditions while staying on schedule and ensuring the safety of passengers.
